Mission

I have always loved to learn and try new things. I genuinely loved going to school as a child and especially loved any time my small family would travel. My sister and I were home-schooled in California for about 2 years before moving north to a small-town life. The highlight of those to me was when we learned world geography. My mom had me memorize the countries of the world by shape and location and I went on to win the geography bee at age 10.
In my 40s I advanced to the top of my career as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and wasn't doing anything new, so I spent my free time on the computer learning about destinations that I planned to travel to with my kids. I even made my kids a manual for each destination with helpful hints about the culture, history, food, and common language they could use. I focused on authentic cultural immersion that supported the local communities we visited.
I began to realize how much the planning process was a joy for me, so I began the process of becoming a travel advisor and started Experience Joy Travel Company in March of 2023.
